The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox is one of the latest SUV options from Chevrolet. It has a lot to offer, making it a popular choice among people looking for their next SUV. But is it right for you? Below, we’ll highlight some key facts you need to know about the Equinox to help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

Performance Specs

For the 2023 model year, Chevrolet improved upon the performance specs. Inside the 2023 Chevrolet Equinox, you can find a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine. This engine produces 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, which is better than the 2022 Equinox. This engine connects with a six-speed automatic transmission and results in a smooth driving experience. You can also pair the engine and transmission with either front-wheel drive, which is standard, or all-wheel drive.

Another important performance metric is fuel efficiency. While the EPA hasn’t rated the 2023 version of the Equinox yet, it should be similar to the fuel economy of the 2022 model since they have similar powertrains. The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox does pretty well for an SUV, coming in at 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. This is for models that have FWD, while AWD models receive a drop of 1 mpg for each rating.

Trims And Exterior Features

Chevrolet offers four different trim options on the 2023 Equinox. As you move up to more expensive trims, you’ll get an Equinox with more premium features and different exterior options. The available trims include:

Interior Comfort

The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox looks pretty similar to the 2022 model, with some slight changes. In the 2022 model, there were comfortable front seats with plenty of room for passengers, and this remains for the 2023 models. On the LS and LT trims, expect to find cloth upholstery, while the RS and Premier trims have perforated leather. A slight change for the 2023 model is a wrapped steering wheel in faux leather, which provides a nice touch of luxury and comfort.

There’s also a decent amount of cargo space in the 2023 Chevrolet Equinox. In the trunk area, you’ll find 29.9 cubic feet of storage, which is pretty good for SUVs of this class. If you fold down the rear seats, you’ll have even more storage room, expanding up to 63.9 cubic feet. This means you should have no trouble fitting in plenty of luggage for road trips or running errands on the weekends.

Entertainment

The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox comes with plenty of features to make driving more enjoyable. But it serves other cuisines as well.

Although you can’t go wrong with almost any item on this carefully crafted menu, try the crab soup, Prince Edward oysters, or tuna ceviche. If you want an alternative to seafood, go for the asparagus risotto. This is also a good place to visit if you have a vegetarian in the group, as the restaurant happily caters to customers with dietary preferences or restrictions, and many dishes are vegetarian.

The Olde Pink House

The building in which The Olde Pink House restaurant is nestled is almost as incredible as the mansion itself. Located in Savannah’s historic district, this pink-tinged mansion was originally built in 1771. In accordance with its historical setting, the restaurant focuses on perfecting and serving traditional local Southern cuisine.

Try the cornbread fried oysters, jumbo sea scallops, and chef’s fried chicken. After a night of music, excellent service, and an incredible meal, stop by Arches Bar within the house for a nightcap. Reservations are highly encouraged, as the restaurant tends to fill up quickly, especially on evenings when you can catch live music in the cellar tavern.

Jazz’d Tapas Bar

Walk down to this chic, sophisticated, industrially styled space to experience a night of incredible food and cocktails. Because this location also doubles as a bar, you must be 18 or older to enter, so save Jazz’d Tapas Bar for a date night rather than a family outing.

As you might have guessed from the name, the bar frequently has live music playing for an extra cultured touch. The tapas menu makes it easy for customers to taste a big variety of dishes without getting too full. Even though the restaurant is tapas-style, most of the dishes are inspired by American — and more specifically, Southern — cuisine. A few local favorites include lamb lollipops, the Terra Cotta Cheese Platter, and the Low Country Shrimp & Grits.

Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room

This is the only restaurant we’ve included in our list of favorite dining spots before, but it’s so good we couldn’t help ourselves.

Come get a taste of true Southern hospitality at Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room. This unique restaurant does things a little bit differently, offering shared tables for its customers, so you can sit down right next to new people, share a meal, and make new friends.

The idea behind the restaurant is to make guests feel at home, with a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere and the mass sharing of plates across the big tables, even with people you don’t know. You’ll taste delicious homemade Southern dishes that’ll remind you of the cooking you experienced back home with mom.

Try the staples, such as fried chicken, black-eyed peas, and macaroni and cheese. Keep in mind before you go that this is one of the most popular spots in Savannah, and it only serves lunch. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., but you may have to line up 30 minutes to an hour before to get inside. However, the experience, food, and hospitality are truly worth it.

The Wyld

Eat a meal right on the docks, with a beautiful view of the water below you, at The Wyld. Focused almost exclusively on seafood, the menu rotates with the season, so if you go twice in three months, you might find completely new dishes.

For now, you can try the local fish tacos, clam rolls, and crispy okra. Spend a weekend evening relaxing in this ultra-casual eatery, and if the weather gets chilly, crowd around the fire pit along with everyone else. If you want to spend some more time here after you’re done with your meal, grab a cocktail and line up for a game of bocce ball.

Exterior color options include Radiant Red Tintcoat, Mosaic Black Metallic, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, and Black Cherry Metallic. Whatever trim you choose, the Traverse is guaranteed to turn heads as you pass by on the road.

Power And Performance

Each trim level of the 2023 Chevy Traverse features the same engine. You get a 3.6-liter V-6 matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine delivers 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque to keep you at the front of the pack. The EPA-estimated 27 mpg combined rating gives you longer between fill-ups. The 5 Spot

The Five Spot is a neighborhood kitchen and bar in Savannah with two convenient locations. Tucked away in Savannah’s Habersham Village and at the Shops of Sandfly, the Five Spot’s menu consists of modern American fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The extremely family-friendly atmosphere serves some of the best burgers you will find. We suggest you go classic and order the table the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. It is a great way to get the kids to eat a varied diet. The order comes with a generous serving of perfectly seasoned and crispy tomato slices that are hand-breaded and served with some micro-greens. 

You can’t go wrong with the Five Spot Classic Burger as an entree. It is two double-stacked patties topped with grilled onions, bacon, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. The satisfying and juicy burger comes with your choice of sides. Choose from green beans, broccoli slaw, cheese grits, or collard greens. We suggest you go with the classic fries, but for an extra $2, indulge yourself and ask for the sweet potato waffle fries. You won’t regret it. 

If you have little ones, the Five Spot also has a wonderful kids’ menu, filled with all the staples picky eaters love. Let your kids choose from grilled cheese, chicken tenders, a burger, or mac and cheese. If you’re interested in brunch, there’s a special kids’ menu for brunch too. So while you enjoy French toast or waffles, your kids can nosh on some chocolate chip pancakes. 

You can find the Five Spot at 4430 Habersham Street or at 7360 Skidaway Road. Goose Feather Cafe

The Goose Feather Cafe is a phenomenal choice if you’re looking for a casual restaurant with an established reputation for great service and food. The Goose Feather Cafe has been in service since 1986 and knows the importance of good hospitality and delicious food. While the menu offers a wide selection of items sure to please most anyone’s palate, you should try the chicken club pita. This healthy and filling entree is a soft and chewy pita filled with The Goose Feather Cafe’s specially seasoned and grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and ranch dressing. The whole thing is topped with homemade croutons for the perfect crunch. 

You’ll find The Goose Feather Cafe at 39 Barnard Street. Hours of operation are Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You’ll definitely want to try any of their freshly made parties. The Little Duck Diner

You can’t go wrong with a place called The Little Duck Diner for sharing a meal with kids. The locale offers a relaxed atmosphere and is a self-described “vintage chic diner.” The decor is classic 1920s style but with a modern twist. The menu has classic items, Southern comfort food, and other menu options inspired by cuisine from around the world. While you can order anything ranging from traditional breakfast items such as a breakfast biscuit sandwich to specialty entrees like Southern shrimp and grits, the little ones also have a diverse kids’ menu. They can select favorites like chicken strips and grilled cheese. Be sure to order a sweet milkshake along with your meal.

Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room

Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room is so good a line gathers outside before the doors open. This is the place to be if you want to feel like you’re having a home-cooked meal. Tables seat ten people, and the open seating allows you to have a meal and get to know someone simultaneously. The menu changes daily, so be sure to check in advance and head there with an adventurous spirit. The price range is around $30 per person, with tax included. This is the place to bring kids who want to get to know others and love conversation. They’ll be plenty of friendly diners ready to share stories.
